Fruit and Stem

from Apille by Thomas Christ

/

lyrics

Elivante says to Apille:

Please don't be afraid, baby, that old testament terror has been at it for years.
Been after me my whole damn life, but somehow I'm still here.
I will take you by the hand, we will run so far and fast,
We will escape the outstreched arm ever seeking to harass.

I will protect you forever,
Like a bee defends the queen.
Even from a tyrant god,
Vicious and obscene.

We are like a fruit and stem now,
Forged in fire, and bound by my vow.
Two-headed beast so strong in battle.
I am the snake and you the rattle.

We are like a fruit and stem and
though separate weak, we make a strong stand.
I can hold you high in safety,
Above the ground where death awaits thee.

I've always tried to be a good person, but I've always been opposed to the god-man.
I know that I can never be a saint, I guess I'll have to settle for "saint-an".
But I can be your fallen angel, if you'll be the "Apille" to my stem.
Worse comes to worse, we can always fall back on two are twice as hard to condemn.
